AN ATATÜRK STATUE İN GERMANY – WUPPERTAL

 

On May 19th 2018, the cooporating turkish associations “Cepni ve Cevresi Yardimlasma Dernegi” and “CHP Köln Dernegi” celebrated the inauguration of a Ataturk statue in Wuppertal, Germany.
The opening ceremony of the statue was attended by the mayor of Wuppertal Andreas Mucke, the president of the “CHP Köln Dernegi” association Günay Capan, the president of the “Cepni ve Cevresi Yardimlasma Dernegi” association Nilay Doğan and party and non-governmental organizations representatives.

On May 19 in 1919, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk went to Samsun and started the war for liberation and independence. In memory of this historical day Emsalettin Temel said: “We will carry this complete independence torch that Mustafa Kemal Ataturk burned 100 years ago with the spirit of national strength against all kinds of difficulties, pressures and conditions to many more than 100 years. This is not a choice for us, it is a historical and conscientious responsibility.”

The president of the CHP Köln Association Günay Çapan highlighted: “We have set another milestone in Germany. On the 100th anniversary of this memorial day, the Cepni Association and CHP Köln Association, celebrated the inauguration of a Atatürk statue in Wuppertal. The owner and the architect of this statue is Emsalettin Temel. I would like to express my gratitude to him, to the participants and all Republic lovers“.
